Paul Capewell B.Sc.(Econ), A.C.A.
Paul qualified in 1999, and worked in practice both north and south of the border before joining The A9 Partnership (Highland) Limited in 2008. He was appointed as a director of the Inverness company in 2010.
Paul looks after a wide range of clients, and particularly enjoys helping clients with cashflow forecasts, business plans and tax planning, and performing business valuations. He also holds the Responsible Individual qualification for audit purposes, and has appeared on Newsnight Scotland and various webcasts discussing financial issues pertinent to the Highlands.
Ernest Smart LL.B.(Hons), F.C.A.
Ernest qualified with a medium sized Leicester firm in 1983, before moving to a big four firm the following year where he remained for 15 years. During this time, he became a partner and worked in various locations around the world, specialising in Financial Services. In 1999, he joined another big four firm as a partner, where he was instrumental in developing practices in London, Leeds and Edinburgh before leaving to pursue his farming interests in the Highlands in 2002. Ernest returned to practice in the Black Isle in 2007, joined the A9 Partnership (Highland) Limited in 2010, and was appointed as a director in February 2011.
Ernest’s commercial experience in running his own business, combined with his understanding of the finance requirements of both lenders and borrowers and in-depth knowledge of the UK tax system, enable him to provide pertinent advice on a wide range of issues to clients of all sizes.
